Balud Masbte


Balud is a 4th class municipality of Masbate Province. In year 2000 census, it has a population of 30,068 in 5,547 household. In history, Balud has been identified because of large pigeons called “Balud”. This found in southwest part of Masbate. This is head to Panay Island and said that the first people who lives in this were came in Panay, that’s why the first language spoken in this is Hiligaynon.

In 1948, Balud was a part of municipality of Milagros and become independence in August 19, 1949, with 32 barangay and extent of 22,363 hectares. The main product of this place is rice and corn and the two major source of income in this area was farming and fishing.
